pHformula A.C. Recovery and P.O.S.T Recovery Cream - Review

Image
So I went to a cosmetologist for the first time in my life to seek help with my acne struggles and well facials alone don't fix the issue. She gave me these two products by a brand called pHformula. This brand's products can only be bought from a professional, who has a license to do their treatments and sell their products. Which means that these products are to support the skin after the treatments and between facials. As my cosmetologist said, the skincare regimen at home is a lot more important than facials, so if you can't afford facial treatments regularly, then invest in your skincare routine. A.C. Recovery is like a treament type of serum. It costs about 61€ and contains tons of acne-fighting ingredients including mandelic acid, niacinamide and salicylic acid. This special formula should help renew and support the skin while recovering. I have been applying this twice a day, at night I pump a tiny pea-sized amount for my entire face and in the morning I jus

Getting a facial treatment for the first time

Yeah, after dealing with acne for about 5 years, I finally got the courage to go to a beautician/esthetician and get a facial treatment. Firstly, it was not easy to find a good place to go to, because there are so many and you want to make sure they won't make anything worse, so do your research and check the reviews. First of all the lady was super nice and I laid on the table, when just her reaction to the situation on my skin terrified me. My skin is not that bad, like she said, but still it's pretty serious. She said that she won't guarantee perfect skin or that the pimples won't come back ever, but with regular visits and correct skincare regimen, we could make the situation a lot better. So I was there about an hour and a half. Firstly, she applied a mask that had a burning sensation. A lot of clients apparently even make noises or breathe harder, because of the pain, but since I'm kind of used to the sensation due to The Ordinary's AHA/BHA peel, it wa

My Clarins Relaxing Sleep Mask - Review

Image
I have never used Clarins products before, mostly because of their price and most of their products are for mature skin. But now they came out with a new line My Clarins, which is made just for younger skin (18-25-year-olds). The prices are also cheaper and I love that this line is vegan and mostly plant-based. Price 27,99€  I would have loved to switch my entire skincare routine to My Clarins, but I still need to use more of my current products. Anyways I have learned a lot more about the importance of hydration for the skin and lately I might have become slightly obsessed with nightcreams, because there are so many containing amazing ingredients for the skin. Also I think my skin might have been dehydrated for some time. But no need to worry now, because the My Clarins Relaxing Sleep Mask/ nightcream is here to rescue me. First I got a tester from the store to see how my skin would react and daaaamn after the two nights my skin looked healthier, happier and clearer. I previo

Clinique iD Dramatically Different Oil-Control Gel for large pores and uneven texture - Review

Image
Okay so I feel like I have to go and change my “Best moisturizers for oily skin” post, because well, this Clinique gel moisturizer is definitely not the best . Anymore. For me. I absolutely love this innovative idea from Clinique. How come nobody has come out with this customization idea before and really props to Clinique for that. Clinique iD™: Active Cartridge Concentrate for Pores & Uneven Texture But the gel moisturizer just doesn’t moisturize almost at all. I have super oily skin so I loved how mattifying and lightweight this was, but after two months I felt that my skin was getting super oily already an hour after application and well enough is enough. I‘m not sure whether my skin has gotten drier and more dehydrated or unnaturally oily all of the sudden, but this product just isn’t for me anymore, which is a shame, because now officially I haven’t had any good experiences with Clinique’s products.  I always get super excited about their products and at first everyt

oily skin? or maybe dehydrated skin - what reduced my acne

Image
If you've read my blog, you should know by now that my skin tends to get pretty oily and it's been a hassle to sort it out. But very recently amongst dealing with bad acne breakouts, I learned a skincare tip that said to moisturize more and to apply moisturizer and THEN face oils. Before I had used only oil at nighttime thinking that it provided enough moisture. Turns out that NO. During the day I've always used moisturizers, but more mattifying and oil-free products, that just don't moisturize enough. And then during nighttime I also didn't moisturize enough, so maybe my skin has been just very dehydrated all this time. When skin is dehydrated the pores become larger and produce more oils for nourishment, which leads to clogged pores. But hydrated skin is more plump, glowy and healthy-looking and can deal with some skin concerns better. So this makes sense why my skin has been acting out so much. Now after cleansing and toning my face, I apply The Ordinary'

Pixi Vitamin C tonic - Review

Image
After I found the holy grail Pixi Glow Tonic to be too intense for my skin (it is exfoliating so yeah), I was kinda afraid to try other Pixi products, although I like their style and I think they have great stuff. But since I'm currently dealing with acne scars, vitamin C is mostly suggested and this face toner seemed like a perfect addition to my current skincare routine. This tonic has Ferulic Acid (antioxidant), probiotics and willow bark - all of these are great for fighting acne, boosting collagen production and brightening the skin. I purchased the 100 ml size, because I've been disappointed by skincare products so many times that I'd rather pay and throw away less, if my skin dislikes it. I apply this in the morning and at night after cleansing. I pour some of this on my hands, rub them together and then I pat it all over my face (not the eyes of course). This way I like to think that I get more vitamin C on my face and also save some cotton pads. It works, s

My 2018 favourite beauty products

Image
I realized how much I love to read my older posts and see what products I've used as I've forgotten most of them already. I also love to read and hear about people's favourite products, so I thought I'd recap my last years favourites. Benefit They're Real mascara When I got my hands on this, I was so excited. This mascara has so many good reviews and for a good reason. I've bought it twice now and just love it. Definitely one of the best mascaras I've ever used. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb So in Italy I found a Sephora and obviously had to buy this amazing lip gloss. I absolutely love how moisturizing it is and the shine and the shade and of course the packaging. Only thing that I find weird is that this lip gloss really sinks into my lips. Like after an hour most of the gloss is gone (into my lips). But still would recommend. Lily Lolo mineral foundation powder Discovering mineral foundations has been one of the best things ever. Th

What's up with Carmex lip balm - Review

Image
Well, when I started watching Emma Chamberlain on Youtube, I absolutely loved her attitude, style and just everything. Then she moved to LA and became a whole different person, so I'm not that big of a fan anymore. Still because of her I wanted to try her favourite Carmex lip balm. Now I have a love-hate relationship with this balm (like with her). I do have to say I like the tube package. The balm itself is nice, I like the look on my lips, because it kinda like irritates them a bit, which makes my natural lip colour a bit more darker. But yeah Carmex is a bit of a weird lip balm in my opinion. For one like I said it kind of irritates my lips, but also the tingles and the minty feeling is kinda good. Secondly, it's not that hydrating and actually makes my lips drier than before, but since it feels nice and moisturizing on my lips, I don't mind. Thirdly, it contains salicylic acid, which is used for treating and drying acne as it penetrates the skin layers. So that

Best moisturizers for oily skin

Image
Well in my lifetime I've had the chance to try out many different face moisturizers, but since my skin is very oily and still acne-prone, not many of those have stick with me. Luckily I've found TWO, yes only two moisturizers that I found worked for my skin. Unfortunately, these are not cruelty-free brands, but there are not many choices that work for very oily skin. And those that are cruelty-free are pretty much found only in the US, so this is my one exception. 1. Clinique Dramatically Different Gel This product I first bought with the Clinique 3-step system for Oily skin and I really liked the moisturizer, although the other products in the kit were too drying due to the alcohol in them. But this gel I later purchased in the big bottle and used about 3/4 of it and then stopped for some reason, I really don't remember why, but I gave it to a friend, who loved it. Now I purchased the new Clinique iD with this formula and it's really great for my oily skin. It nice

Updated skincare routine for oily skin with acne

About six months ago my skin was absolutely the worst as I have pics for tracking my skin process. My skincare routine consisted of different acids from The Ordinary, African black soap and rose water. The products themselves are actually great, it was just all too much for my skin. Now either my hormones have calmed down or my skincare routine is better, but my skin has improved a lot. Also I got so much more information about important skincare steps from watching Beauty Within's Youtube videos. So now my skincares consists of Bioderma micellar water AM & PM I absolutely love micellar water. It is so gentle and effective when it comes to removing make-up and any dirt or impurities. I found that when washing my face with other gels and washes, my skin got super dry and flaky. Maybe there's something in the tap water... La Roche-Posay Serozinc spray After cleansing with micellar water, I like to spray this on and let it sink in. I'm not 100% sure it does an
