2020 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Image
2020! What a year! Didn't expect my beginning of twenties to get off to a start like this, but there are still many things and experiences I'm grateful for. Beauty wise I feel like this year I didn't find that many new favourites, so the last few year lists still stand. But a few new additions came along that changed my life and supported me through 2020. SKINCARE Lumene Valo Nordic-C Midsummer Glow Self-Tan Drops I love to call this product sun drops as it adds a nice sun-kissed glow to my pale reflection in addition to the vitamin C. It's very easy to use by mixing a few drops with your nighttime moisturizer. Simple Micellar Facial Gel Wash This face wash is so gentle and effective when it comes to cleaning my face of any dirt and impurities. Also it is non-drying and probiotic, so what more can you really ask for from a face wash. Berrichi Eye Brightening Age Defence This eye cream made me love the idea of eye creams and now there won't be any wrinkles around my ...

Lumene Self-Tan Drops - Review

Image
Who doesn’t want to stay pale while still wearing SPF 50 on your face daily? My two hands are in the air, can’t you see? Another product that promises to fix my issues and give me a nice sunkissed tan/glow. These Lumene concentrated drops are meant to be mixed with a night time moisturizer, so you can wake up with a nice little tan on your face. I simply mix 3 drops of this in the palm of my hand with my moisturizer and evenly apply on my face and blend down my neck. At first I was hesitant if the vitamin C would mix well with my anti-acne products, but I haven't had any issues yet. Since I use a minimal amount of moisturizer on my face, I wasn't sure how this would work, but still I woke up with a nice sunkissed glow on my face. I haven't tried building the tan up with this, because of my acne fighting regimen, but this could possibly work as this contains the classic self-tanning ingredient DHA, which left a mild self-tanner scent. I accidentally left a drop of this on my...

Foundation testers aka first impressions - Revlon, L'Oreal, Bourjois & Lumene

Image
I found this post deep in my drafts and thought maybe this could be some useful information for oily acne-prone skinned people looking for drugstore foundations. Before commiting to a foundation, I usually try testers first to see if it's worth to buy. In some stores you can ask the employees for tester packets, but sometimes I also take a little container with me, where I squeeze some of the testers that are displayed (don't take the displayed testers, leave something for the others as well). In the end I didn't buy any of these. Also now I happily use a loose mineral foundation, which is so much better for my oily skin, but I hope these short reviews are still helpful. Also I got the lightest shades available in Estonia. (• basic info, + positives, - negatives) Revlon Colorstay Oily/Combination (shade ivory) • medium–high coverage • semi-matte finish + SPF 15 + shade matched with my pale skin tone + long lasting - sticky finish (even after powder) - brought out ...

Lumene Matt Control Oil-free Foundation - Review

Image
A foundation that is matte, oil-free, full coverage? Yes, please!  This foundation has an emulsion type formula that brightens and nourishes skin, but also leaves it matte and controls the oil. So it's perfect for oily to combination skin. 13,49€ Usually I have problems finding lighter shades, but since Lumene is Nordic, they have mostly light shades. For me the shade 0 Light Ivory is perfect, but also 00 Ultra Light matched me, I just looked super pale. The coverage is medium to full coverage. It feels so light, but covers pretty much everything. I think the foundation looks better with primer, I usually apply the primer mostly in the T-zone, to keep the oil away and not let the foundation set in my pores.  The foundation leaves my skin looking semi-matte and really natural. After application I set my T-zone with some powder. When 3-4 hours pass I am usually pretty shiny, but with this foundation it looks like a natural shine (does that make sense?). It was a lit...

Lumene Beauty Base Matifying & Pore Minimizing Primer

Image
A lot of beauty gurus talk about primers and how important they are, I decided try one out. In Estonia there is a small selection of primers, which is disappointing. Anyways Lumene has a shine neutralizing and pore minimizing primer for oily and combination skin. It primes the skin with a matt finish and a smooth base for makeup.  The texture is kind of like silicone, absorbs fast, feels funny on skin and it's kind of difficult to understand where I applied and where I still need to apply it. First few hours it stays matt, but with my oily skin afterwards feels cake-y. When I took my makeup off after many hours, my skin looked better and it didn't cause me to breakout.  I think this primer works pretty well and does minimize pores.

Lumene True Mystic Precise Tip Eyeliner - Review

Image
This is a long-wear precise eyeliner. Dark pigment, water resistant formula and short drying time - everything you need in an eyeliner to stay all day. It has a long flexible tip that is easy to use. Since I'm still new with eyeliner, I end up with a mess and a thick line, but I'm getting better. One thing that bothered me was that the very tip didn't color. Like this is supposed to be a precise tip eyeliner, but the tip doesn't work, like what? But later I found ways for it to work a little, so I could do cat eyes with this. I like the pigment and texture. The pigment doesn't stay black very long and might start running. Overall I think that it's a good eyeliner.

Natural Code By Lumene Skin Perfector Matt Makeup - Quick review

Image
I was in need for a foundation that would cover my blemishes, didn't make me breakout, didn't clog my pores and wasn't that expensive. So I found this. This a moisturising, mattifying and oil-free foundation. It contains Arctic Tea Tree extract and doesn't have any parabens. Price 9.10€ I really like this, this product gives me a matt look. It doesn't cover everything, but enough and you can layer it, I just usually don't. It lasts long, but for me, my skin still gets oily somewhere at noon. Shade 11 Cream which matches my real skin tone, is a little too light for me right now, since I got a suntan in the summer. I really like this foundation and I would definitely buy it again.

Lumene Basic Blue Day Cream - Quick Review

Image
I bought this because I wanted a simple moisturiser that didn't have any parabens in it. This product has over 90% natural ingredients, it smells like cornflower and it's for all skin types. Price 4.90€ I have to say this product is very moisturising, for my oily skin it's bit too much. I don't know if this product made me breakout or was it the stress (back to school). I liked the creamy texture, but didn't love how fast my skin was oily. Since it's a day cream, I only applied it in the morning after washing my face. And I also used this under my foundation. The foundation was mattifying, so that kept my skin from getting really oily. This is a pretty basic moisturiser. I wouldn't recommend it for people with oily skin. Otherwise it was good, but I wouldn't buy it again.
