Foundation testers aka first impressions - Revlon, L'Oreal, Bourjois & Lumene
I found this post deep in my drafts and thought maybe this could be some useful information for oily acne-prone skinned people looking for drugstore foundations. Before commiting to a foundation, I usually try testers first to see if it's worth to buy. In some stores you can ask the employees for tester packets, but sometimes I also take a little container with me, where I squeeze some of the testers that are displayed (don't take the displayed testers, leave something for the others as well). In the end I didn't buy any of these. Also now I happily use a loose mineral foundation, which is so much better for my oily skin, but I hope these short reviews are still helpful. Also I got the lightest shades available in Estonia. (• basic info, + positives, - negatives)
Revlon Colorstay Oily/Combination (shade ivory)
• medium–high coverage
• semi-matte finish
+ SPF 15
+ shade matched with my pale skin tone
+ long lasting
- sticky finish (even after powder)
- brought out skin's texture
- didn't look natural
L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation (shade vanilla)
• matte finish
• high coverage
+ comfortable
+ looked natural
+ long lasting
- oxidizes, leaving skin too orange and dark
I would buy this, but the lightest shade is way too dark
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum (shade vanilla)
• medium coverage
• semi-matte natural finish
+ feels light
+ didn't make me oily
+ light blending
- too yellow undertone
- streaks after application
- shade is a bit dark
- gets easily stuck to flaky parts
- a pimple had formed after removing this
Lumene Matte Oil-Free foundation (shade 0 light ivory)
• semi-matte glowy finish (although should be full matte)
• medium–high coverage
+ natural finish
+ lightweight
+ colour matched my skin tone (shade 00 matched my winter skin better)
+ easy to blend
- didn't want to stay on my nose without primer
- after 8 hours half of the coverage had worn off
I was surprised that this matte foundation is so glowy and radiant, even when I applied powder, but I still loved it
Lumene Blur Longwear foundation (shade 0 light ivory)
• light to medium coverage
• semi-matte finish
+ shade matched my skin
+ lightweight
+ felt nice and comfortable on skin
+ long lasting
- not ideal for oily skin (got shiny pretty fast)
- thicker consistency/ like a mousse
Revlon Colorstay Oily/Combination (shade ivory)
• medium–high coverage
• semi-matte finish
+ SPF 15
+ shade matched with my pale skin tone
+ long lasting
- sticky finish (even after powder)
- brought out skin's texture
- didn't look natural
