Toning blonde hair ROSE GOLD - Four Reasons Toning Treatment - Review
It was a dream of mine for the longest time to dye my hair blonde and I finally did it. While I love how cool my new blonde hair looks, maintaining it is not that easy. One thing is constantly bleaching the outgrown roots, the other is preserving a nice tone/shade of blonde hair. I love that with blonde hair you can tone it with different colours and it usually washes out, so you can try out many shades of blonde (including blue, purple, pink etc). At first I was all about the cold blonde. To maintain it I used Estel's Prima Blonde Silver mask, which was supposed help with that, but after using it for sometime, it gave my hair a light green hue, which I did not enjoy. Because well blue (from the mask) and yellow (from the natural hair) makes green. So after my hairdresser explained the chemistry and introduced the idea of rose gold toned hair (because red tones neutralize green), I was excited to try it and after my hair dresser did her magic, I was completely in love. It actually even looked more natural as it was warmer than the hair tone I had before and made me look less washed out.
But how to maintain rose gold toned hair at home? Since it is still a pretty new trend, at least in Estonia, there aren't many products to help with that. KC Professional's Four Reasons has a variety of different toning masks for almost any hair colour needs, including rose gold.
Ways I used this toning mask
1. Following my hairdressers instructions, I mixed my usual amount of shampoo with the same amount of this toning mask in a small plastic bowl and then I shampooed my hair thoroughly. Apparently this way the product lathers better and you can get all the hair toned, otherwise you might get a patchy result. With shampoo you also get a nice hue, rather than a colour, but the results aren't as outstanding and fade super fast, so at some point I was using it every time I showered, so the bottle emptied pretty fast.

2. I got bored and thought why not get a stronger rose gold tone in my hair by using the toning mask on its own, the only bad thing that could happen is that I have patchy rose gold hair that comes out in like two washes. So after shampooing I tried my best to apply the toning mask thoroughly. While I focused more on my hair ends, after drying, my freshly highlighted roots sucked up the most pigment, so they actually appeared pink, and my ends maybe had a light hue. But suprisingly darker roots and lighter rose gold ends faded together well, so no complaints there. I quite liked this look, but it was kinda patchy.
But overall, I'm not sure how I feel about the Four Reasons Rose Gold toning mask. This toning mask DID tone my hair light rose goldish, but the tone was usually barely there and came out right after I washed my hair the next time. Also this shade of Rose Gold wasn't my favourite, at least on my hair, I feel like it was a tad bit too red underoned, rather than pink + gold, but I guess that can vary on different hair colours (though I'm pretty light blonde). If you are looking for a rose gold toning treatment and you they don't sell any higher rated treatments, then sure buy this, but otherwise I wouldn't reach for it.
I hope I can get my hands on better ones soon.
